Valentine’s Sell Out

black rice

Test cooking Black Rice Arancini for next week’s Valentine’s supper club. The packet informs me that “the fragrance of the black rice makes it welcomed by modern people”. Exactly what I look for in a grain. The supper club is fully booked but you can still look longingly at the menu here.

Blue Monday & A Vegan Valentine Feast

chalkheart

According to the so called experts 29th Jan, Blue Monday, is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. So you can go with that self-fulfilling prophecy and wallow in your own misery…or treat yourself to a place at Herbivore047: Blue Monday. We’re teaming up with the Blue Honey Night Cafe once again to bring you four courses of creative vegan cuisine for twenty quid. Not only will the food make you feel wonderful but you can feel even better about yourselves knowing that all of that £20 will go to Cardiff Samaritans and Field Days Organic. I’m sure you know about the Samaritans, but Field Days provide valuable training and support for people with learning difficulties and mental health problems at there organic vegetable project at the Amelia Trust Farm.

Then in February it’s time to dust off the heart-shaped cake tins and polish up the plastic roses again for Herbivore048: A Vegan Valentine Feast. This time five courses for twenty five quid. Embassy Cafe, Weds 14th February. Full details and menus for these events here.

Herbivore036 Valentie’s Menu

Menu for Valentine’s Day here. Limited spaces so move fast. Bookings simon@theherbivore.co.uk.

The chef reserves the right to chance the menu slightly at short notice due to violent and unpredictable mood swings. Sorry that should read: because of seasonal availability of produce.

From The Herbivore With Love: A Vegan Valentine

Latest news: there will be a Vegan Valentine’s Day Supper Club. Embassy Cafe, Cathays Terrace, Tuesday 14th Feb.  I’ll get some more details out soon but it will be BYO alcohol and the usual five courses of loved-up food. Limited places so get in touch if you want to save a space (or two..or three).

A Vegan Valentine From The Herbivore

Slide2We’re now taking bookings for our St. Valentines Day dinner at Kemi’s in Pontcanna, Cardiff. We’ve got four courses of delicious food, all vegan this time, and, because we love you, a little amuse bouche to kick things off.  Once again wine pairings will be on offer for each course; details to follow.

Valentines Day is traditionally a time for chefs to dust off the heart shaped moulds and order in the red roses while the diners slap on the fake smiles, buy a Hallmark card and sit in awkward, candle-lit silence with their date, spouse or squeeze. Not here. Of course couples are welcome, but so are singles, groups…anyone who wants a delicious communal meal.

Because we have a fixed menu for one night and limited space in the kitchen it’s normally difficult for us to cater for specific dietary requirements. This time we’re getting round that by making it all vegan with a gluten free option on the dessert (but please let us know if you want that when you book).
